Bose Krishnamachari is a maverick who emerged in the climate of abstraction in Mumbai. He has juggled with many mediums and innovated with genres.
Born in Kerala in 1963, Krishnamachari recently completed his MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London. His work, reinforced by a `here and now' understanding and awareness of contemporary culture, borrows effortlessly from various disciplines including , design and time periods. Regarding his abstract paintings he says: "I refine my colour to brightness. I have learnt this usage from the alternately subdued and lavish colour codes of Indian ceremonies and ritual performances; the costumes, the gestures of enactment..."
Krishnamachari's work has no fixed centre; its relentless inventive inventory includes forays into installation art as well as into minimalist abstraction and figurative art.
